In a major step toward real estate digitization and transparency, the Uttar Pradesh government has announced the development of an online system for automatic calculation of property value and stamp duty. This initiative aims to streamline property registration, minimize valuation discrepancies, and eliminate the influence of middlemen — a significant move toward cleaner governance in the property market.
According to government officials, the proposed system will enable auto-calculation of stamp duty based on standardized circle rates, property size, location, and type of construction. Once implemented, the software will automatically display the accurate market value and payable stamp duty, ensuring there’s no room for manual manipulation or undervaluation of assets during registration.
UP Government’s New Digital Leap in Property Valuation & Stamp Duty System
The state government’s goal is to modernize the property registration process by integrating GIS mapping and digital record verification. With this, buyers and sellers will no longer have to rely on third-party valuers or outdated manual systems.
The new system, being developed in collaboration with the Stamps and Registration Department, will also link with revenue and housing databases, creating a single-window digital interface for all property-related services in UP.
Once operational, property buyers will be able to estimate stamp duty instantly, download e-stamp certificates, and initiate online registration without visiting any office physically. This move not only supports the Digital India mission but also positions Uttar Pradesh as a leader in transparent property governance.
